We have looked at the British Values and are continuing to incorporate these in to Brentside Primary Academy's Curriculum.

Brentside are focusing on 5 British Values:-

1) MUTUAL RESPECT

Mutual respect is at the heart of our values. We learn that our behaviours have an effect on our own rights and those of others. All members of the school treat each other with respect.

2) INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY

We are encouraged to make choices, knowing that we are in a safe and supportive environment. As a school, staff educate and provide boundaries for pupils to make choices safely. We are encouraged to know, understand and exercise these rights through lessons such as PSHE.

3) DEMOCRACY

We have many opportunities for our voices to be heard. We have a school council which has been voted by the class. We also have an annual questionnaire with which they are able to put forward their views about the school.

4) TOLERANCE OF THOSE OF DIFFERENT FAITHS & BELIEFS

We are a very multicultural school with a variety of religions and languages spoken.  We have sharing assemblies about stories and celebrations from a variety of faiths and cultures. We also visit places of worship that are important to different faiths.

5) THE RULE OF LAW

Laws are very important to follow as they are there to keep us safe. These could be classroom rules, playground rules and generally as a whole school. We are taught the value and reasons behind laws and the responsibilities that this involves and the consequences when laws are broken.
