School Gate Opening Times

Please note that the school gates are on an automatic timer. They open at the following times:-

8.40am - Monday - Friday

3.15pm - Monday - Thursday

2.15pm - Friday

The school gates open at these times as that is when a member of staff is on duty in the playground.  Parents and children are not permitted to enter the school when a member of staff is not on duty.

Please do not enter the school site before these gate opening times, the following exceptions to this are:-

• Nursery PM parents. If you wish to gain access for afternoon nursery please press the buzzer and a member of office staff will open the gate for you.
• Early Child Collections. If you need to collect your child early due to a medical appointment please press the buzzer and a member of the office staff will open the gate for you.

Following the above consultation, the length of the Brentside school day will be extended from 31 hours and 10 minutes to 32 hours 45 minutes in line with DfE recommendations. This change will take effect from Tuesday 16th April 2024.

The School Street

The School Street is designed to make the roads around our school less congested and safer, whilst improving the air quality, making them a more pleasant place for our families. This is achieved by restricting car movements on roads at certain times.

Fines are issued to any driver that enter a school street zone at a certain time.

School Street restrictions are in place for roads around Brentside Primary Academy and came into effect in March 2023. See below for details of the camera operation times.

School Street Times

School street cameras will be in operation during the school term at these times:-

AM- Monday and Thursday- 8.15am to 9.15am

PM- Monday and Thursday- 2.45pm to 3.45pm

AM Fridays- 8.15am to 9.15am

PM- Fridays- 2.00pm to 3.00pm.

Roads Closed to Traffic

• Kennedy Road (between Greenford Avenue and Cuckoo Avenue)
• Elfwine Road,
• Hillyard Road (from the junction with Laurie Road to Kennedy Road) will be closed to most traffic

Parents/guardians will not be allowed to drive down Kennedy Road (between Greenford Avenue and Cuckoo Avenue), Elfwine Road, Hillyard Road (from the junction with Laurie Road to Kennedy Road) at the school street times times, unless they are a resident of the school street, or they or their child has a blue badge and they have been allocated permits. The times will be clearly shown on the Pedestrian and Cycle zone signs.

If you or your child are a blue badge holder you must apply for a permit for exemption to access
