Brentside Primary Academy are extending our term time only Nursery provision from September 2024. We are increasing from 15 hours to 30 hours per week for those eligible.
This would enable parents to utilise the 15 hours a week for free early education (the ‘Universal Entitlement’) and the 15 hours per week ‘Extended Entitlement’ for those who are eligible and in possession of a valid HMRC code.
If you are not eligible for 30 hours of free child care, we are still offering the 15 hours of free childcare that is available to all parents.
How would 30 hours of provision work?
We would run 2 sessions of 3 hours per day Monday-Friday during term time only, with the following timings:-
Lunchtime
Our Nursery provision will run from 8.45am to 3.15pm Monday to Friday. This will total 32.5 hours per week. The funding of 30 free hours would not cover the cost of lunch time supervision of pupils.
2.5 hours per week of lunchtime supervision would need to be charged at a cost of £25 per week.
This cost would need to be paid by the parent/carer (alternatively you can choose to collect your child for these 30 minutes periods (11.45 am -12.15 pm) daily, returning them at 12.15pm for the afternoon session).
Any pupils staying at school during lunch will need to bring a packed lunch from home. There will be no school catered lunch option for Nursery pupils.
Invoices will be sent to parents for the cost of lunchtime supervision of £25 per week for each half term (blocks of 6-7 weeks). Total cost of lunch time supervision for the school year is £975.

To qualify for the new hours, the majority of parents must earn more than £9,518, but less than £100,000 per year.
If you don't work, you might still be eligible for 30 hours of free childcare, if your partner works, or you receive certain benefits.
